The Easter eggs were given out to the young carers, and their siblings. We also gave eggs to young people with disabilities who attend our Short Breaks and Lila service. Thanks to Neo’s generous donation we were also able to share them with young people living out our local residential homes, as well as one of our nursery provisions. Barnardo’s works with some of the most vulnerable children, often from families who may not be able to afford such treats as these, and they were all extremely grateful to receive them.

"Neo's incredible efforts in collecting so many calendars meant that every single child we support could have an advent calendar this year. Seeing their faces as we gave them out was magical. Explaining to those who had never had an advent calendar before that you could only open one door a day was so much fun Lots of the families were baffled by this weird tradition at first!

"The young carers we work with at Barnardo’s Wellbeing Hub were very grateful for their advent calendars, families have struggled with providing for their children during the pandemic especially and treats like advent calendars are a luxury, so it made a big difference to the young people to be given one. "I was introduced to Rina via the Dream factory and was told that her son was looking to collect 400 advent calendars to donate within the local area. I am a paediatric community nurse that works with very sick children many of whom are underprivileged. I contacted Rina who said that Neo had already allocated the calendars to other causes but that if he collected any more then she would let me know. A few days later Rina contacted me and told me that Neo had managed to collect 200 calendars for the children in the community. I was totally overwhelmed by such an amazing response as this meant that every child would receive a calendar. Neo is a very special boy and his family should be very proud of him. I want to say a huge thank you to Neo for all his help."
